The script in the box (right) enables you to publish your email address so that it is completely hidden from any spambot searching the Internet for email addresses, but is entirely transparent and fully functional for any human user in almost any browser (including Explorer(5-6), Safari, Firefox, Opera and Netscape(4-7!) - tested for all major operating systems in both Mac and Windows).
(If this button fails to open a new window, you may need to switch off "suppress popups" in the Google or similar toolbar). To change the script to include any email address, simply click on the Change email button and type in your FULL email address. This will rewite the script and show the working result in a new window. To change visible text (and appearance if you know HTML/CSS) - type in the new text and click the Update button. You can then copy and paste the script into any HTML web page.
This cloak works because the current generation of spambots cannot read javascript. Finding your email address by searching the script would still be very difficult because Spamoff not only obfuscates your address inside javascript, it also creates a new function name, parameters and variables (generated by php from Melville's Moby Dick) making each script unique and difficult to identify.
All javascript source code is open source and there is no fee, charge or licence for this script, which you are welcome to distribute as freeware but may not resell in any form. Check out this technical note if you want to edit or extend the functionality of this code. Because javascript is used client-side, there is no publication or collection of any email addresses created in this script, which remains private to the machine you are using now. |
